Collective Unconscious

I’ve been thinking a lot about trying out collaborative models of content providing. You know, to have a sort of independent production company of, say, 5 people, which might simultaneously be making a radio show, a TV doc, covering an event for a newspaper. After all, it’s the isolation that’s such a killer for a freelance journalist. I find it the most challenging part of the whole process. The means of production are so accessible now, why do we have to remain individual freelancers pitching isolated ideas to media? Or maybe we just start making the content, and then see who we can sell it to? Isn’t the freelance life as it’s currently structured a holdover from days when we needed to get ‘inside the tent’ of major media…access to their studios, publishing ability, cameras! The blogging/podcasting world has gone beyond that, why not the professional world….
