The Globe and Mail (and everyone else, no doubt) reports that Paris Hilton will be doing daily podcasts as part of the promotion for her new cheese-fest flick, “House of Wax.” The shortest time on record must be the time between the pop culture reportage on a new ‘amateur’ trend such as podcasting, and the time it finds an advertising hook.

Will there be podcasting ‘stars’ independent of their celebrity in the mass communications arena? Are DIY sweethearts Dawn ‘n’ Drew about to be overshadowed by any C list celeb? What is it about Podcasting that makes this seem like something other than what it is…an ad? Paris is ‘talking to me’?
